A basement in Bedford..

My first project of the year; a basement in Bedford NH.

I was thrilled when a past client and friend asked if she could gift my services to her relative for Christmas. I immediately took to Canva, whipped up a gift certificate and sent it her way.

We had our first meeting in January 2023 and I knew immediately why they enlisted my help. Not only was there years of purchases, gifting items, passed down trinkets and grown children’s things building up in this space, but this large multi-room basement space was being poorly utilized. This space had tons of potential but it was hard to see beyond the clutter in its way.

Before we can touch anything in a clients space, we must first listen. Listen to what they want to see in the space, listen to their feelings about the things they have and decide together on a plan. For this project, it was clear that there was an emotional attachment to many of the items filling the rooms and much of what was there would need to stay. Though this does tend to make the job of the organizer a bit more complicated, not wanting to part with things is not necessarily a bad thing!

For this project, my main focus was sorting items and creating collections and zones. Some of the collections included candles, baskets, party décor, gifts and gift wrap. Once I had the collections created, then those collections were moved into zones that flowed from purpose to completion.

Beyond creating collections and zones, two of the rooms in this basement have future plans to become bedrooms for out-of-town guests to stay in. Phase 1 has been completed and I look forward to phase 2 where we can bring the bedrooms to life.
